Selection Tools in Photoshop

The selection tools are located in the Photoshop Tools panel, which is located, by default, on the left side of your screen.
MOVE TOOL
The move tool allows you to move a selection or entire layer by dragging it with your mouse or using your keyboard arrows keys. The move tool is located at the top right of the Photoshop Toolbox.
RECTANGULAR MARQUEE TOOL
To reposition a rectangular or elliptical marquee, first drag to create the selection border, keeping the mouse button depressed. Then hold down the spacebar and continue to drag. Release the spacebar, but keep the mouse button depressed, if you need to continue adjusting the selection border.
ELLIPTICAL MARQUEE TOOL
the Elliptical Marquee Tool allows us to draw oval or circular selections! If you already know how to use the Rectangular Marquee Tool, think of the Elliptical Marquee Tool as being the same thing, just with extremely rounded corners.
SINGLE ROW AND COLUMN MARQUEE TOOL
Single Row and Single Column Marquee Defines the border as a one pixel wide row or column.
Rectangular Marquee: Makes a rectangular selection (or a square, when used with the Shift key).
Elliptical Marquee: Makes an elliptical selection (or a circle, when used with the Shift key).
LASSO TOOL
This is a freehand selection tool. Click and hold your left mouse button on the image and draw your selection.
POLYGONAL LASSO TOOL
The Polygonal Lasso tool is useful for drawing straight-edged segments of a selection border.
MAGNETIC LASSO TOOL
The Magnetic Lasso tool is especially useful for quickly selecting objects with complex edges set against high-contrast backgrounds.
QUICK SELECTION TOOL
the Quick Selection tool is great at finding the edges of objects, so you can simply draw your selection and Photoshop will do most of the heavy lifting. Once you get the hang of how Quick Selection works, it can be one of the most powerful tools in your Photoshop arsenal.
MAGIC WAND TOOL
The Magic Wand Tool, known simply as the Magic Wand, is one of the oldest selection tools in Photoshop. Unlike other selection tools that select pixels in an image based on shapes or by detecting object edges, the Magic Wand selects pixels based on tone and color. Many people tend to get frustrated with the Magic Wand because it can sometimes seem like it's impossible to control which pixels the tool selects.
